SKRonex and Ori Toy – Acid Rain

I got this link from tas262 on Twitter about a cool line-up that Robot Kingdom says they will be getting ahold of.  These things are apparently ABS/PVC, done in a highly limited run with tons of paint apps, and scaled to GI Joes.  Unless they’re balls-crazy expensive I think they’re right up my alley.  D:  Hopefully I don’t miss them coming out, whenver they do!

Here’s the SKRonex page about these figures!

This is also me trying to do more blogging that doesn’t involve “hey look new video and/or podcast is up”.  >.>;

MAGfest X – Complete & Other Stuff

Hey everybody~  I was at MAGFest X for the last week of my holiday (the first week of which I was dead sick with a flash flu).  Video production is resuming and stuff should be back in the saddle like a superhero cowboy real soon.

I’m also doing this blog post to show a classmate of mine how WordPress works!

I hate doing this but to make myself accountable, I’m working on these videos at the moment:

TF Prime Cliffjumper
MP-10 Convoy

Thundercats (2011)

I’ve also made a few more pages for my Youtube backlog, including the somewhat embarrassing Hi Price of the Final Def!  I might do some blog posts about old videos sometime to reminisce on them.

Happy January~!

Thank you The Nerdsphere!

The Nerdsphere recently posted their 2011 Nerdsphere Network Awards!  Many thanks to my overseas compadres for the kind words in two categories~

Welcome 2012

I spent the first 3 and a half hours of 2012 playing Skyrim for the first time~

This will be an interesting year.  I’ll be heading into the heart of the snap-decision I made in the 3rd quarter of 2011, and come the fall I have no idea what I will be doing next.

If I had any web-relevant resolutions it would be to not post videos as soon as they’re completed as a habit, but try to build up a small backlog of finished projects and release them at a less erratic pace.  But another resolution is to make sure I put school first, since I’m finally enjoying it.  There’s also a good chance I’ll be dabbling a lot in filming on a DSLR (Canon 7D), which may change things up a bit for me yet again.

And maybe I’ll finally finish making pages for the existing backlog!

By the time the summer is over, I’ll also have written scripts and taken part in actual film production, if all goes well.

And at some point there will probably be a pitched battle with the Mayan supergods, returning to take back what they believe to be their own.

Happy 2012!  2011 felt like a thing that gave me a good hard push in a positive direction.  We’ll see what the next 365ish bring to the table.

Some info on how Botcon sets are made (from TFW’s Botcon 2012 Gigatron thread)

FunPub has a habit of posting really useful information all over the web…except on their own archived webspace.  Just read some stuff that I thought should be made more general knowledge, so I’m going to put it here at least for my own reference.

Thread source:

“Ok, I will tell you. Every year we start with a theme. 2005 was a mission theme. 2006, Pre-BW. 2007, since Classics was “cancelled” Hasbro thought it would be cool to offer one last round through BotCon. 2008 was SG. 2009, Elite Guard. 2010, Gen 2 Redux. 2011, Animated Stunts. And of course this year, SG vs Classics.

Now, lets look at 2009 and this year specifically. The theme going in to 2009 was Elite Guard. And we wanted to choose an “Old Autobot” to be part of the group when he was young. We chose Kup (over Ironhide) for different reasons. Now, once we had the primary theme and setting, we needed bad guys. So, we started looking at characters that had never really appeared in US fiction so it would make sense as to why they had never been seen before i.e. they existed in the distant past. From the character list and the molds available, Banzai Tron, Leozack and Skyquake made the most sense. We had also been wanting to get Scourge made because we knew it was a character fans would like to see. Having Kup in the set made it very easy. We would tell the story in Flashback. Now we can work in Scourge!

Elita-1 was done to fill out the 2007 set and Razorclaw was done because yes, since I co-wrote DoFP, he was the one toy (in 7 years) that I personally wanted to see done. THAT said, would not have if I thought it would have been a bust. (That 2 pack did VERY well).

On to 2012, SG vs CV was a concept we had thrown around for a couple years. This was the year it finally made sense. I am very specific when I look at breakdowns. Need to have a proportionate number of good, good, bad and bad guys. You see that in set breakdown. 2 Heroic Cons, 2 Evil bots, 1 Heroic bot, 1 evil con. Once souvies are factored in, we looked at characters that have been discussed before (in the fiction) and characters that we think would do well. At the same time, we look at the molds available, and if any of this lines up. Some are easy (Tracks), and some go through a long vetting process. You have no idea HOW many pitch sheets I see before we settle on the final list.

So, over the 7 years, there has been one I really wanted to see done and only if it would have appeal. As far as all of the others, really doesn’t matter to me. Now, some of the pitches that come in, are they personal favorites of the person submitting them (I use about 4-5 people). Yes, I am sure. But, I have one criteria. It needs to be sellable. Everything else comes after that. Don’t get me wrong. I am excited and enthused about the great looking toys. But at the end of the day, each toy has to be a good mold, look good redeco’d/remolded, fit the theme AND be a winner at retail.”

“1. Hmmmm… We have never started over because we felt at the time what we had was weak. THAT said, we have shelved a couple set ideas due to other factors, and looking back at one specifically, SO glad we did because it was nearly as good as what came out that year and it had flaws in hindsight.

2. In 2009 we wanted to add a new character to the mythos. Enter Landshark. When Animated was decided upon for 2011, Toxitron made perfect sense as we had been looking for a way to introduce him for like 3 years…”

Those were the main ones that caught my eye, anyway~

Saints Row the Third – Whaaaaaaaaaaaat

Apparently(?) this is an actual side mission in Saints Row the Third, a game I am pumped to pick up when I have the time and cash.  Have been for months.

Bit of backstory: I got to know my good friend Andi, who is one of the main people responsible for me having any interest in the creation of media at all, while we were both (and still are both) DJs on The Cape Radio, an internet radio station based out of City of Heroes.  I go by DJ Vangelus, Andi goes by DJ Enigma.

“DJ Vangela and DJ Enigmus”

Andi has played trance music.

DJ Enigmus uses decoys to prevent her assassination.  DJ Enigma the City of Heroes character is an Illusion controller, who can summon decoys.

Vangela and Enigma both sort of resemble images of either photos or avatars of Andi and myself.

Glyos Build Preview: Desert Hunter Glyoroid

I made this transforming build instead of sleeping for a few hours on the morning of October 24, right before my first day of class at Trebas.  The bummer about this build is that aside from using 2 Glyans, 4 Axis Joint Sets, and 4 Phase Arm/Gobon Blaster sets….it uses an additional 2 inner Glyan pins, meaning you need 4 Glyans and end up with a giant pile of unused components.

This was the very first time I tried doing an interview with my camera and Zoom H4n audio recorder.  Definitely shows that I had no cameraman, hehe.
